Community is defined as a unified body of individuals: as a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists.
The business dictionary also includes the definiton a self-organized network of people with common agenda, cause, or interest, who collaborate by sharing ideas, information, and other resources. Virtual communities consist of participants in online discussions on topics of mutual concern, or of those who frequent certain websites.
We define it as all of these, as well as location, within the American Redoubt.
This means that “Community” is the section that brings the news back to the local level.
We include Crime and Product Recalls/Safety here, as well.
We also incorporate education and local government, when it applies. Examples would be issues concerning local City Council meetings and local educational levies.
