Imagine… A Place Where The US Constitution Rules

Imagine…

A place where Democracy rules.   A place where the peoples voice can truly be heard.  A place where our Representatives actually transmit the true wishes of the majority to a governing body which will see to it that the majority vote “51 %” shall become the supreme law of the land in any and all cases. A place where at any time any existing law can be repelled and replaced by any, new law that the majority sees fit to pass. What type of world would we see if such a place could truly exist ?

Imagine…

In this place…    A specific group of people decided to populate or overpopulate, either  by propaganda, such as the works of Sigmund Freud and his Nephew Edward Béarnaise, “which were overwhelmingly successful in their work”,  or simply having and raising many children into a certain  ideology, to gain control by a majority vote.   Which by the way is extremely possible and plausible. (Ie. Compare the birth rates of the citizenry of many countries around the world “including the U.S.”  to the birth rates of their Muslim immigrants, regardless of legal status.) What type of world would we see if such a place truly existed?

Imagine…

A place where the majority vote would dictate the only forms of religions, maybe the top 10 most popular, or the one worst form you can imagine.    Or no religion at all,  “Its easy if you try !” (Classical reference. John Lennon.) Or  it would dictate what type of things could be said, read or printed.   Or where you could or could not go. Or who was allowed to talk to who. Or your gun rights were decided by popular vote.

Imagine…

A place where the majority decided every detail of life, or death, and who was allowed to experience it,  based on, “what”, the color of ones hair, eyes or skin maybe. This is Majority rule, mob rule.   This is a Democracy…

Democracy: Greek, Demos “Common people” or Majority.) And (Kratos “power” or to rule.) (Demo-kra-t’ia Rule of the most common or the majority).

Many claim the united States is a democracy, including most every president since Woodrow Wilson. And, that we are spreading “Democracy” around the world. Is this true ? Is that the type of government our founders chose to create.   I…, don’t think so! How are we to know ?   It appears many Americans don’t know the difference and what’s worse many don’t care.

So what did our founders choose and why, and what is the difference, should we care, and if so why ?…

Glad you ask !…

What our founders chose can be verified in Article 4 section 4 of our Constitution,   “A Republican form of Government”. Why they choose this type of government is because…

As previously mentioned in a true Democracy all matters are determined by a majority vote and therefore individual rights do not exist.  As our founders explained so well in our “Declaration of Independence”.

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their “CREATOR” with certain “UNALIENABLE RIGHTS“, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. “THAT TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, GOVERNMENTS ARE INSTITUTED AMONG MEN, DERIVING THEIR JUST POWERS FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED,”. (Emphasis mine).

They had experienced the rule of a Monarchy (Ruled by one) Ie. Kings or Queens, and knew that the one thing that nearly 1,000 years of history had shown them was that liberty was not something they could count on with that type of government, no matter what they were promised.

At this point I should point out that “Liberty and Freedom are not the same thing”. For one to be totally free to do what one chooses, is not necessarily a good thing. One must temper ones freedom with responsibility. Its been said that liberty is freedom governed by wisdom. A form of self governance.

The founders were also aware of a type of government that is called an (Aristocracy, Rule of the best,) a type of (oligarchy, Ruled by a few) so this type of government would be considered to be ruled by “the few best suited to rule”. A simple example of an Aristocracy would be the basic family structure. Parents generally are more capable of raising children, than the children are at choosing a leader between them and raising themselves… Generally.

They also knew that Democracies are not stable forms of governments and have always devolved into Anarchy and Dictatorships. James Madison wrote “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” This alone is a good reason to care.

Each of these types of government are naturally formed and have some benefits of there own, Ie. a Monarchy would work well with a Football team or an Army,  where one leader is needed to call the plays. And a Aristocracy works well with the family where the parents have the skills needed to run the household and pay the bills. And a well managed power in the hands of the people is a favorable aspect of a Democracy, however, by themselves our founders found them unfit.

The founders decided on a republic because it took the best qualities of each type of governments and merged them into one, and the governing principles are based on law that is set forth in to the foundation of our Constitution which establishes supremacy for all other laws to be made.

Another point that must be made clear is… That our Republic being a “Construct” as opposed to a naturally evolving form of government is also a form of self governance and “the people remain sovereign in that they created States and State Government, and that, States “through consent of the people” contracted with other States to create our national government. The creator is superior to the created. The word “Sovereign” means to have supreme power or authority. This can be confirmed in both the “Lee Resolution of June 1776 and the Declaration of Independence”.

The word Republic comes from two Latin words, “respublica” or the public matter, and referring to “the law”. It is a Government where the law rules, not the leaders. The people them selves elect Representatives to create law which intern applies to all.

There is to be no King or Queen in fact “No Ruler or small group of rulers” of the people as in a Monarchy or oligarchy. The President is in charge of the “Executive” branch and the military where one leader is needed to call the plays, but still a “Servant” of the law and the people. The people remain sovereign. Also the Nation or Federal Government is to deal with mainly external or foreign affairs and internal matters are to be for the most part left up to the individual States or the people.

Its been said that, A Republic recognizes the sovereign nature of the people and must be representative in its nature. If the Government can control its laws, then the law does not control the Government and therefore not a Republic.

A Republican Government is given specific limitations on what it can do and must recognize that laws can only be changed by a higher source than its self, that is by the consent of the people through there representatives.

The most important trait or aspect of a Republican Government is that the people maintain total control over its operations. The people “Delegate, not give away” certain specific powers to each branch as checks and balances to assure against a consolidation of powers and to keep the Government from becoming an oligarchy “Ruled by a few”.

To “Delegate” a power is to assign a duty to another. For example an employer can delegate to an employee the use of a certain or specific tool, but not another and does not relinquish ownership of that tool. If the employee refuses to use the tool properly, or uses a tool not delegated to him or her, that employee is subject to replacement.

The most important thing to remember is A Republic is “Res Publica” the public matter, and it “MUST” matter to the people. If not we loose it. as Benjamin Franklin said when ask… Sir, what form of Government have you given us ? His reply was… “A Republic Ma’am, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT !”  (Emphasis mine)

We have a duty to perform …

(A well-instructed people alone can be permanently a free people. James Madison.) Are you well-instructed in the United States Constitution ?…

A primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government. in a republic what species of knowledge can be equally important ? And what duty more pressing than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country ? ~George Washington.

Are you teaching your kids and grand-kids about our Government, our Constitution and its history?…

I know of a lot people including Conservatives and Patriots that could use to dwell on this one for a while. Do you support a Con-Con for balancing the budget, term limits etc… How about this? If you do not understand it, do not support changing it…

If we could get our Government to obey Article I Section 1 of our Constitution most of our problems would go away.

Imagine…

If our States would understand and uphold Article VI Section 2 and 3 the same is true.

Imagine…

If we could get our people to study and understand our Constitution and its history we could restore America to a Constitutional Republic.
