Socialist Left Panics Over Great Barrington Declaration

On October 4, 2020, the Great Barrington Declaration was authored and signed by professors from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford University Medical School.

In the declaration, these scientists state that Covid-19 lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health.

The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.

World Health Organization (WHO) special envoy on COVID-19, Dr. David Nabarro, in a video interview with the British magazine the Spectator, discussed his view of the declaration, “We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus,” Nabarro said.

These scientists are telling the world that these Coronavirus lockdowns are doing more harm than good. They are disastrous and must be stopped!

But the Socialist Left, including Big Tech, disagree. The economic fallout has only benefited them, after all. Big Tech has declared themselves the experts in every field, and therefore they will decide what you will believe and what you won’t be allowed to see. They are our new Ministry of Truth.

As part of calling this dangerous misinformation, if you attempt to Google the Barrington Declaration, you may not find it immediately, however, you will find several articles critical of it.

The declaration is proposing what they refer to as “Focused Protection.” This seems to be an approach of concentrating the majority of their efforts on those that are at highest risk for the infection, and letting everyone else go about their normal lives, especially children.

Indeed, for children, COVID-19 is less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza.

The signers are promoting having the schools reopen, as well as extra-curricular activities.

Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume.

The science deniers on the Left that are advocating for increased lockdowns and more Orwellian practices need to let the people go back to their normal lives.
