Baby Boomers Don’t Recognize America

I’m 77 years old and I have to tell you that most Americans in their 60s on up will tell you that they no longer recognize the country which they grew up in. For too many, the American dream is dying, and we are at the edge of the great abyss with very little time left to turn things around. Those of us who worked hard, obeyed the laws, and paid our taxes are now asking ourselves what in the heck happened that has brought us to this political crisis our country is now facing. We worked hard and fought wars for our country thinking that when we grew old there would be more for us than alienation.

When I was growing up patriotism was a part of everyday life. People were courteous and kind for the most part, unlike today where the middle finger has supplanted a thumbs up. Too much of America has lost its way and I still believe that much of this was caused by the public education system which has proven to be the wedge that has caused this great divide in our country over the past 6 decades. Too many of our great military leaders have been drummed out of their positions of power only to be replaced by social workers and politically correct hacks. They don’t know how to fight but are great at getting the troops to use politically correct pronouns and fighting imaginary racism. I shudder at the thought of a conflict with Russia or China knowing the condition of our military.

Corporations have replaced individual enterprise because they have been taxed and regulated out of existence. The corporations keep the politicians in office and the politicians make laws that favor the corporations while hard-working Americans are taxed out of their homes and fired from their jobs because our elected politicians have forgotten who pays their exorbitant salaries. We have nothing but corrupt political clowns running this circus we call Washington D.C. and many of our state legislatures. If you’re white, they hold you responsible for every problem that plagues people of color, from children being born out of wedlock to law enforcement officers who are blamed for the death of thugs who threaten their lives. Those who burn our cities are hailed as social justice heroes while those who protest peacefully are designated by the media as deplorables and right-wing nuts. They tell us that racism is in our blood and throughout the course of human history, racism has never existed anywhere but here. They tell us we are responsible for climate change and if gas is $7 a gallon it is our own dammed fault. With inflation at a 40-year high, a steak dinner is unaffordable while a burger and fires at Mcdonald’s has become a gourmet feast. They want to take our guns because they say we are a threat to our country when the real threat lies with the political hacks who allow criminals to run wild in our streets murdering, robbing and raping innocent victims. Liberal district attorneys free criminals who have committed heinous crimes while our government locks up protesters for months and years who happened to be at a rally on January 6^th at our capital. We are truly living in a world turned upside down.

No One Recognizes America

Illegals continue to flood our country through our southern border and many of us are 75 years old and still working to provide benefits for these illegals and addicts who defecate on our streets and camp on our sidewalks. The drug cartels have taken over our cities and the sound of gunfire on our streets has become commonplace. We were an English-speaking country but now we have to press 1 for English and 2 for Spanish. Washington complains about Putin’s war in Ukraine but funds it by buying 670 thousand barrels of Russian oil a month while our pipelines rust and our energy resources remain in the ground. Baby boomers have seen a lot, but most are too proud to go on the dole and too stubborn to give up because surrender now would be a betrayal of the America that we once valued. I’m not sure if the next generation is ready to carry our flag as it appears that many of them have different attitudes and are conflict adverse when it comes to putting themselves in harm’s way. We are going to find out just how many Americans are ready to stand up and fight for their freedoms in the next two and a half years. The upcoming elections both nationally and statewide will be key as to whether our country survives as a free nation or falls to the pressures of socialism, so I ask you all to choose wisely in November and remember “We Get the Government We Deserve.”
