Paul Ryan – Same Stuff, Different Day

Republicans today nominated Paul Ryan to resume his role as Speaker of the House.
That is a defiant slap-in-the-face to the citizens of the country.
Ryan proved during his short tenure as the replacement for the liberal John Boehner that he was no different than his predecessor. You can call him Boehner 2.0
Speaker Ryan pushed through Congress a $1.1TRILLION omnibus spending bill that completely funded President Obama’s executive amnesty for DREAMers. His bill also gave federal grants to sanctuary cities, as well as funding the resettlement of illegal aliens within the United States, the release of criminal aliens, and tax credits for illegal aliens.
As Chairman of the Budget Committee, he authored this monstrosity, though he likes to say that he ‘inherited’ the problem.
Ryan also partnered with Obama on the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) pushing it so much you might think he authored this deal as well. Donald Trump has said it is a bad deal and he wants it gone. How is that going to work out for them?
Paul Ryan’s record demonstrates a two-decade history of pushing amnesty and mass immigration. In fact, Ryan has developed perhaps the most open borders record in Congress– for members of either party.
But, as we can see by the nomination of Paul Ryan, business is back to normal in Washington D.C. And it only took a week!
The House Freedom Caucus (HFC) has shown themselves to be ineffective. They pushed for Boehner, then pushed for Ryan to replace him.
Idaho’s Rep. Raul Labrador, a founder of the HFC, counts on his constituents to have short memories. He thinks that the thousands of comments on his Facebook page over his vote for John Boehner will go unnoticed in the long term. He suggested that after voting for Paul Ryan he was disappointed in the new Speaker but was willing to give him another chance.
This is probably what got him through this election. But is he supporting this terror of conservatism again?
I called his Washington DC office today to ask whether or not Labrador is supporting Paul Ryan for the Speaker position. It is always nice to talk to his polite staff, yet they did the standard two-step dance of the politicians.
All they would commit too was that there were no other options for Rep. Labrador to vote for today. (Really? He had no choice?)
They did make the point that the final vote does not come up until January. (Will he have a choice then?) I think we can see the same things from the House Freedom Caucus that we have seen in the past.
They are becoming more and more establishment with each election.
They are also becoming poster-kids for TERM LIMITS.

Both Ryan and Labrador need to be shown the exit by informed voters instead of being given lasting positions by uninformed voters.
Thanks Shari, good research. This is all excellent news from DC. I’m glad to see the disillusionment and anger growing. Why ? Well, basically it’s about time. Haven’t we seen this same hoopla every four years? Despite knowing better,even adults are prone to wishful thinking when it comes to the “New Deal” in Washington.What seems lost on many is that the Fed has no business meddling in State affairs,and the Fed’s presence and control in so many areas of our lives IS the problem, not the solution. The solution is The States re-assertion of their 10th Amendment perogative, and the impetus for this may grow in step with our disillusionment. Of course, we’ll also need to get rid of the Federal subcontractors posing as state officials – like Governor Yellowback.
All of the leadership positions in the republican party needs to be replaced. It sickens me that Trump is willing to play footie with these outright traitors.
Right after Trump was elected, I sent an email to Labrador asking him to work on getting Paul Ryan removed from the Speaker position because he didn’t stand behind Trump when he should have – and now we see Ryan glomming right onto anything Trump. If in fact, Labrador did vote for Paul Ryan’s speakership, when he runs for Governor of Idaho, we might need to attempt to elect someone else who can see these things, and who listens to the people.
