Trump transition finishing on time, under budget
Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Thursday that Donald Trump was completing the process on time and under budget, returning to the Treasury about 20 percent of federal funding for the effort.
The appropriations under the Presidential Transition Act totaled about $6 million and as much as $1.2 million, or 20 percent, will be returned to the Treasury, according to the team.
“The president-elect is especially pleased that we are wrapping up this transition on time and under budget,” Mr. Pence told reporters at a press conference. “He’s a businessman who knows how to sharpen his pencil.”
“Our job is to be ready on day one. The American people can be confident that we will be,” Mr. Pence said. “We are all ready to go to work. In fact, we can’t wait to go to work for the American people to make America great again.”
