From Their Flier:
On August 30, 2016, the Lake Pend
Oreille School District is asking
voters to approve a $55.1 million
Plant Facilities Levy.
Why a levy? Safe, well-maintained facilities improve
educational performance in our students. However, many
of LPOSD’s facilities are out of compliance or below
standards. A physical assessment of all district facilities
in 2015 resulted in just one school, Kootenai Elementary,
receiving a “good” rating. Older schools including
Northside, Southside, Sandpoint Middle School and Lake
Pend Oreille High School were rated “unsatisfactory.”
Prioritizing Projects. A Facilities Planning Committee
consisting of community members was formed to
identify and prioritize major facility projects for LPOSD over
the next 5 to 6 years. The committee’s recommendations
aim to improve the health and safety of students throughout
the district, and reduce the costs of operating our schools.
