Cracks In the Foundation
What happens without a strong foundation? Our country was built on the strength and blood of many who knew that our Judea-Christian beliefs were paramount to following the “laws of nature and of nature’s God.”These are founding words in our sacred documents, the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.
If you see crumbling of these values around you, it may because the strong morals and honor and Truth that purveyed during the forming of our nation seem to be missing. When tires are deflated on a car that is on a precarious road up in Priest Lake, because it had a “NO LEVY” sign on it, this is proof of the chipping away at our foundation. What about all the owner approved “NO LEVY” signs that are stolen on private property?
Then there is the untruths and scare tactics about what will happen if the Levy fails.
The real TRUTH is that the legislature has increased the state funding to schools this session by 16%. Furthermore, in the last 10 years, it has increased by 116%.1
The TRUTH is that certified staff will be receiving a raise of over $6500 this year. The state department of education supports 62 certified staff in WBCSD. We have over 23 more than that, so now that money will have to be spread out. Why do we need 23 more instead of cutting back a little?
The TRUTH is that bus drivers and custodians will also receive a 34% increase in their wages. Discretionary funding will receive an additional $48 million state-wide, and Kid’s programs a whooping $298 million.2
The TRUTH is that WBCSD business office knew that this increase was possible, and yet would not calculate it in the proposed Levy amount so we have a 38% increase from the last Levy.
Citizens are asking for an outside Audit because there are many irregularities found in the financial reports from prior years. Maybe we should also ask, where is the morals and honor and Truth that existed during the founding of our nation.
