Scotchman Peaks Open House

June 6, 2017 @ 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

In December, Sen. Jim Risch introduced legislation to protect approximately 14,000 acres in North Idaho as wilderness. Now the senator’s staff is hosting several open houses about the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. You should plan to come to the Tuesday, June 6, open house in Hope.

Information about the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness will be on display from 4 to 7 pm PDT. Staff from the senator’s office and officials from the U.S. Forest Service will be available to answer your questions. And we have answers to frequently asked questions that you might like to read. You can also provide written comments during the open house.

Enactment of the legislation is not a foregone conclusion. After hearing from his constituents, Sen. Risch will decide whether to reintroduce the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Act this session, modify the proposal or drop the effort.
