  1. Christian values are great – but the 1 Amendment ensures that religious beliefs should not be part of our government. I am concerned that there is this turn to elevating Christianity above other faith-based beliefs. Not all Americans are Christian – many among us are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Secular-Humanist, Bahai, etc etc. It is not a requirement that you have to be Christian to have a working moral compass and be a patriotic American citizen. This move toward a theocracy by the current administration is one that the founding fathers would find not in keeping with the intent of 1A. Separation of church and state is an American value – enshrined in the Constitution. Keep them separate and out of the public sphere.

    • Catherine, your belief is misguided by a false narrative about our founding fathers. Their idea was to keep the state out of the church not the church out of the state. If you were to keep the church out – which is what the last few of the President did – then you get a morality that is based on what? How we feel? If you go and read the founders the ideas for the constitution came from the Bible and Christianity. You don’t have to like it – but that is how it is, and we fortunately get to live under a Constitution, or what is left of it, that is based on Godly Principals. If you base life off the theory of evolution then you are gong to get survival of the fittest. We don’t want that – Nazi Germany and those of the Antifa were and are surely living life off of that. The theory of evolution is the basis for all kinds of evil.
The “many among us” that are of a false religion need to turn to Jesus – the true and living God. You can be a fine patriot, but unless you know Jesus, your thoughts for freedom come from where? Have you ever really thought where morality comes from? Once you toss God out of your equation, your morals are relative. If we Christians are thrown into jail or a FEMA camp we are still free, where you would just grumble about your circumstances, and wonder why the Christian is free.
What about those among us that are Muslim? Would you say they are true patriots? Like my allegiance is to YHWH first their’s is to Allah. Contrary to popular belief YHWH is not Allah. Do you want to live under what happens in a Islamic world? Please go to a thoroughly Islamic community – any woman who thinks Christianity puts a burden on our necks might find Sharia Law somewhat to their liking.
Is America Christian? Is the President Christian? America certainly not, the President – we don’t really know his status, much like we can’t ever really know someone’s status.
I think my biggest concern with the Patriot movement is that you find so many Patriot Christians not Christian Patriots. There is a big difference between the two. I hope you come to know the Tue and Living God before it is too late for your immortal soul.

      • I myself am a Christian and always try to spread and live by the word of god but what absolute rambling. America is for all people with or without a religion. Keep religion OUT of government! If this is what Raul is for then we need to keep him OUT.

        • Christopher, I would then suggest that you keep out of public life. We don’t need anyone who can separate their faith into a small compartment and not live it out 24 hours a day. And that is OK – some people aren’t called into the political realm.
And yes, it was rambling, I will give you that. But, obviously you know little to nothing about the history of the United States, nor where our laws actually come from. Do you think are were pulled out of thin air? They are some whim based on who is in power at the time? When Sharia comes to a small town near you – don’t cry about it. Muslims will not keep their religion out of their politics.

          • In a diverse society and in support of ratiocination one of a Republic’s aims is to have good ideas become policy…from generation to generation.

That being said, it does require an amount of self control to not endeavor to make your Group or your Will an overriding influence.

            “Epistle to Quakers

Sincerely wishing, that as men and Christians, ye may always fully and uninterruptedly enjoy every civil and religious right; and be, in your turn, the means of securing it to others; but that the example which ye have unwisely set, of mingling religion with politics, may be disavowed and reprobated by every inhabitant of America.” – Thomas Paine “Common Sense”

At the other end of the spectrum, what Muslim has denounced Donald Trump’s “gentleman’s agreement” with the Democrat Schumer to work to allow the Executive Department to raise the National Debt Limit whenever the President wants…bypassing the Legislative Department? The Legislative Department is supposed to be the source of all revenue raising measures…and with Deficit Spending and Unfunded Liabilities it is easily attributed that the Federal Government has been using the National Debt Limit as a source of revenue (delayed taxation or worse)…and for Congress to relinquish that responsibility to the Executive Department is a painful wound to our Republic..and supposedly the Republic of its Muslim citizens.

Now that is not to say that there are not Muslim’s who recognize honest money and financial accountability…but you have to come close to Al Queda or The Muslim Brotherhood to find them; which is not especially inclined to support a Republic.

The truth of the matter was noted in “The Cato Letters” circa 1721 by Trenchard and Gordon…who were really hard on Islam in their letters…people are attracted to freedom and the ability to prosper…and thus the massive immigration and illegal entries into the USA. The salient point has to be that the freedom and prosperity has to be honest and accountable…and not the eating away of the host leaving only the exoskeleton to prop up and sing praises too.
