Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler Endorses
Scott Herndon for Idaho Senate

Sandpoint, IdahoBonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler has announced his endorsement of Scott Herndon for the district 1 seat in the Idaho Senate in the upcoming May 17, 2022 Republican primary.

In his endorsement, Sheriff Wheeler states “I will be voting Scott Herndon for Senate this May.  Mr. Herndon has been engaged in policy making on the County and State levels for years.  He is a well-informed, self-starter that intelligently contributes to the issues that matter to those of us in Bonner County.”

Sheriff Daryl Wheeler was first elected to the office of Bonner County Sheriff in 2008 and took office in January of 2009.

Scott Herndon is the current chairman of the Bonner County Republican Central Committee. He was also a Bonner County jail chaplain from 2008-2013 during the Wheeler administration.

I very much appreciate the trust in me that Sheriff Wheeler has expressed by endorsing my senate campaign. The Sheriff and I have known each other almost 16 years and share a vision for limited and constitutional government. He was a strong supporter of my pushback against Idaho’s governor when he first issued Covid lockdown orders that criminalized church gatherings. The Sheriff also demonstrated strong support for our effort to overturn the firearms ban at the publicly owned War Memorial Field during the Festival at Sandpoint.”

Scott Herndon prevailed in Herndon v. Little when the governor rescinded his prohibition of church gatherings in response to Herndon’s federal lawsuit. Meanwhile, Herndon continues to pursue an appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court in regards to the Festival at Sandpoint’s gun ban.
