Cover Up in Bonner County

BREAKING NEWS: Cover Up in Bonner County!

Did Veronica Dixon submit Falsified Documents to an Officer of the Court?

With the ongoing contentious conflicts within the Bonner County Commissioners Office (BoCC), you would think that the Legal Assistant, Veronica Dixon, would be extra careful not to augment the ongoing disputes with more legal misconduct, yet this is what seems to have happened.

Redoubt News obtained documents that allege that Veronica Dixon, wife of Idaho State Rep. Sage Dixon, provided falsified documents through her position with Bonner County.

Background information indicate Scott Bauer made several written requests to Dixon to determine if he had supervisory duties over her as the legal assistant to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Idaho Association of Paralegals Make clear:Dixon has held herself up as a Paralegal, so she should be well versed with the law as it pertains to her, and therefore extra attentive to her own work.

Background information includes:

  • On January 30, 2024, a public records request was submitted to the BOCC through Veronica Dixon. It stated, “Please provide me with a copy of Veronica Dixon’s most current official Job Description.”
  • On February 1, 2024, Luke Omodt informs Alissa Clark, the BoCC clerk, that he wanted to change Dixon’s Job Title to read: BOCC Administrative Legal Assistant/Deputy Clerk and change her Supervisor to be: BOCC/Clerk
  • On February 13, 2024, Dixon, in response to the records request, provided a falsified job description which falsely stated that it was approved by the BOCC on February 6, 2024, and in which Dixon acknowledged receipt with her signature dated February 6, 2024.
  • The signed job description was never approved by the BOCC on February 6, 2024, nor at any time thereafter, and has yet to be approved to date.

It does appear to have been put on the schedule for an executive session on February 27, 2024.

Cover Up in Bonner County

Would this be a shameless attempt to cover-up the fiasco the BoCC find themselves in with this new lawsuit?

The contention appears to be that Veronica, or her co workers, do not want her to interact with the Prosecutor’s Office, even though they are her legal supervisors, as shown by her Job Description (JD).

From Current Documents:

Upon information and belief after submitting the January 30, 2024 records request Dixon and the BOCC immediately agendized a proposed JD modification which would change Dixon’s ultimate report to the BOCC instead of the Prosecuting Attorney while still retaining the exact same legal assistant duties.

On February 14, 2024 (during his week out of the office and during the same time that he had ordered the IT Director, Jacob Storms, to lock out the IT Deputy for the law side of the county records), Chairman Luke Omodt appears to be a conspirator in this false narrative as he sent the following note, via email, to Dixon:

The fact is, Veronica Dixon executed the Job Description on February 6, 2024, and did so knowing that it had not been officially approved by the BOCC and knowing it was invalid.

For those that are still wondering, yes, Veronica Dixon does work under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s office. Even though she currently has not released her January 30, 2024 job description, we do have her supplemental JD from 2019, which shows clearly who she works for:

There are others violations included in this mess, but the simple fact is, there seems to be a cover-up happening in our County Building!

The BoCC under Luke Omodt has placed themselves above the law. There is every indication that the laws are being broken in that building and the people must resort to the courts just to get legally allowed documents provided to them.

This is the latest in ongoing embarrassing failures by Luke Omodt since he insisted on taking over the Human Resources department, for which he obviously has no experience. Now he seems to think he can out-Legal the Prosecutors.

If this prevails, not only will we see who Dixon really works for, but an elected official will be fined $1,000 for refusing a legitimate public records request.
