What’s Happening With The Bonner County Republicans
What’s happening in the Bonner County Republican Central Committee (BCRCC) is a microcosm of what we see across the country. The rights of the individual are being squashed at the will of the collective. The minority voice is being controlled by those who feel they know best.
Over the past 10 years, the BCRCC has evolved from establishment RINOs to liberty-minded patriots, and now it is dominated by a religious faction that wants 100% domination in local politics. Many people of this group are good people who do good work, but there is a clear controlling influence at the helm.
Under the current chair, or “leader of the pack”, members who stand on principles that are viewed as unacceptable are silenced and/or purged. Chair Herndon says the minority voice will be heard, but actions speak louder than words, revealing his politician side.
At the December meeting, the committee decided to vacate two more executive officers – 17 days prior the State Winter Meeting. The officers were already registered to attend this meeting as it is core to their duties, and they have a history of fulfilling their obligation.
The motion to vacate was not an agenda item. It was brought up under the guise of new business at the end of a long meeting. These officers were not in attendance but had submitted legitimate proxies. Many amendments were made, and a convoluted motion restated by the chair contained language which was never discussed. Conditions were put on these officers with a time limit of 14 hours, but no official notice was ever made. The chair sat on his hands and watched the clock tick down.
At a special meeting held on January 3rd, I moved to rescind this decision. The hive mind went into full force to avoid discussing the matter and I was denied any chance to speak on my motion.
The BCRCC has a right to vacate officers for any reason – but was it the right thing to do? Was the action justified or does it look like a hit-job? Since the BCRCC vacated their Treasurer in September, the vultures have been circling to take out the next undesirables, and these officers were specifically targeted.
The focus of the committee has been on itself and Chair Herndon, and not on party business. Do you even know there is a presidential caucus coming up? Why would you – as of today (1/11/24) there is nothing posted on their website, not even a “save the date”. You will find fundraising promotions: a movie showing and a flailing Lincoln Day Dinner that still has no speaker.
There will be more to say about what has recently happened to the local Republican group that is representing you.

Over the last several years, I have heard the grandiose claims of politicians who “promise” to listen to their constituents, only to be denied any voice. “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss,” well, we have a saying in my family…”In God we trust; all others, keep your hands where I can see ‘em!”
Political independents have become the largest political bloc in the United States with an average of 43% of U.S. adults identifying themselves in such a way in 2023, according to the latest Gallup survey results.

Maybe because neither party can be trusted?
