Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler will be seeking a 5th term

On May 21st, 2024, Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler will be seeking a 5th term as your Sheriff.

First elected in 2008, Sheriff Wheeler has successfully changed the culture within the Sheriff’s Office, creating building blocks which in turn have transformed his office into a premiere law enforcement agency that employs staff serving Bonner County who are dedicated, courageous and trustworthy.

In 2009, he brought Crisis Intervention Training (C.I.T.) to the 5 northern counties and has served on the Behavioral Health Board since its creation in 2014.

On the state level, Sheriff Wheeler has used his law enforcement training and experience  serving as the President of the Idaho Sheriffs Association in 2012 and then as the chairman of the Legislative Committee in 2013, leading the passage of significant legislation that helped protect the citizens of the State of Idaho.

Sheriff Wheeler is known around the nation, for interposing on behalf of Bonner County Citizens. During the attempted Covid lockdown, he asked Governor Little to reconvene the Idaho Legislature to make public policy for the State. When the Governor ignored the Sheriff’s request, Wheeler refused to enforce the unconstitutional lockdowns, mandatory vaccinations, business shutdowns, and church closures in Bonner County.

His #1 goal for his 5th Term is to keep Bonner County a safe place to live, work and play, secondly, he will continue the fight to preserve the land on the Sheriff’s Complex, for a future Justice Center for Bonner County taxpayers.

Sheriff Wheeler has 38 years of Law Enforcement experience, 25 of those years here in Bonner County. He has been married to his wife Diane for 43 years, has 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren.

Sheriff Wheeler said, “it has been an extreme honor to serve as your Sheriff these last 15 years, and I hope to earn your vote once again this May.”
