From Viable Candidate To Convicted Felon

By Pete Ketcham

Introduction

With Republicans there seems to be no doubt that Donald Trump will be the Republican Party candidate for president. The two logical alternative Republican presidential candidates, Nikki Haley, and Ron Desantis are so far behind Trump it does not seem possible for either to catch up as long as Trump is physically capable of running.

On the Democrat side it looks like the democrats will need to eventually drop the mentally deficient Biden with all his and hunter’s corruption baggage, and pick Gavin Newsom as their most viable unencumbered presidential candidate.

Democrat Strategy

The Democrats intend to change the general public image of Trump as a viable candidate to a convicted felon using the three trials involving 91 criminal charges, with the probable outcome of one or more felony convictions. One may feel Trump can overturn these convictions on appeal, but that issue is irrelevant as the election will be long over before any appeal decision is handed down. This places Trump in a defensive position of convincing the general public he has been convicted unjustly. This will require him to spend campaign time and money trying to “clean up his image” instead of on campaign issues. Also he will no longer be able to use all the Biden corruption issues to campaign against, but will be facing a much younger, viable, and talented candidate in Gavin Newsom.

Republican Strategy

The “MAGA” Republicans are convinced Trump has the necessary ability to convince the general American public in 2024 that he will be the best president, and are resting their hopes on that belief. They seem unable to acknowledge that all the forces and fraudulent election tactics that defeated Trump in 2020 are still in place, and have grown stronger, creating the possibility that Trump could even end up in prison as the result of the impending criminal trials..

Conclusion

It would seem that a competent candidate like Ron Desantis would have a much better chance of winning the presidency as compared to Trump who is packing so much “litigation baggage”, but at this time the Republican party has “hitched their wagon” to Trump, and will not be convinced to do otherwise.
