Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler Endorses
Scott Herndon for Idaho Senate

Sandpoint, IdahoBonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler has announced his endorsement of Scott Herndon for the district 1 seat in the Idaho Senate in the upcoming May 17, 2022 Republican primary.

In his endorsement, Sheriff Wheeler states “I will be voting Scott Herndon for Senate this May.  Mr. Herndon has been engaged in policy making on the County and State levels for years.  He is a well-informed, self-starter that intelligently contributes to the issues that matter to those of us in Bonner County.”

Sheriff Daryl Wheeler was first elected to the office of Bonner County Sheriff in 2008 and took office in January of 2009.

Scott Herndon is the current chairman of the Bonner County Republican Central Committee. He was also a Bonner County jail chaplain from 2008-2013 during the Wheeler administration.

I very much appreciate the trust in me that Sheriff Wheeler has expressed by endorsing my senate campaign. The Sheriff and I have known each other almost 16 years and share a vision for limited and constitutional government. He was a strong supporter of my pushback against Idaho’s governor when he first issued Covid lockdown orders that criminalized church gatherings. The Sheriff also demonstrated strong support for our effort to overturn the firearms ban at the publicly owned War Memorial Field during the Festival at Sandpoint.”

Scott Herndon prevailed in Herndon v. Little when the governor rescinded his prohibition of church gatherings in response to Herndon’s federal lawsuit. Meanwhile, Herndon continues to pursue an appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court in regards to the Festival at Sandpoint’s gun ban.

At the forefront of Scott’s platform for the State Senate is ensuring that government remains limited, and serves the interest of the people, not itself.  Scott will craft policy that fights DC and Boise encroachment on the lives of Idahoans and ensures COVID-era tyranny never hits Idaho again.

Scott is the owner of Scott Herndon Homes, a local homebuilding business. He resides near Sandpoint with his wife of 25 years, Arlene, and 7 of their children.  In his spare time, Scott enjoys the beautiful outdoors of the Gem State and building a new workshop on his property.

2 Comments on Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler Endorses Scott Herndon for Idaho Senate

  1. Scott Herndon ran against Danielle Ahrens,
    the conservatives’ favorite candidate to
beat the RINO’s candidate Woodward during
the 2018 Primary after RINO Keough retired
from her state senate seat. Scott Herndon
split the conservative vote which gave the
    election to Woodward

  2. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe:

RINO Shawn Keough from Democrat New Jersey
retired in 2018. RINO Woodward was selected to
replace her in the Republican Primary for her state senate seat.
To achieve Woodward’s victory, he had to stop the favorite
conservative candidate for state senate, Danielle Ahrens.
Therefore, Scott Herndon was brought into the Republican
Primary race to split the conservative vote, which ensured
    RINO Woodward’s victory.
