Covid-19: The Country Is At A Crossroads

What is the real story? No one seems to know.

The Country Is At A Crossroads

The Country Is At A Crossroads

by Shari Dovale

All 50 states have now formally declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued guidance telling hospitals to list COVID-19 as a cause of death regardless of whether or not there’s actual testing to confirm that’s the case.

Kentucky just told the world they are putting citizens on an ankle monitor to be sure they are following self-quarantine orders.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti held a press conference to encourage people to report on their neighbors for violating the stay-at-home orders.  “Snitches get rewards.”

The Mayor of Mountain Home, Idaho is threatening  to shut down the town and order his police officers to pull over, interrogate, and ticket out-of-county and out-of-state drivers traveling through his city.

Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo targeted New Yorkers by ordering state authorities to stop drivers with New York plates and order them to self-quarantine for 14 days, and she said that state and local authorities would also identify where New York transplants had already relocated and go door-to-door informing them of the quarantine requirement.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont (D) has issued 22 executive orders in response to the Corona Virus.

States, as well as the Federal Government, are extending their deadlines to file taxes.

It does appear that everyone is in a state of stress or panic at this Chinese Virus, some call the Wuhan Flu. But are they all onboard with the extreme measures that are being taken?

Social Distancing is the new terminology to get used to. Distance yourself from everyone. Stay in your home. Only essential businesses are allowed to operate. What businesses does this include, and exclude?

You might think that essential means those that the public rely on in their day-to-day life, therefore non-essential businesses are those that people frequent for pleasure. I thought this until I looked for the official lists.

Grocery Stores are allowed to remain open, as they service their customers with food items.

Restaurants can only operate through drive through and take out services.

Real Estate Brokers are considered essential (but they also have a HUGE lobby in Washington D.C.).

Day Care centers are considered essential, and we all know that a couple of dozen little humans can be trusted not to run around with snotty noses and keep their distances from their playtime friends.

Hospitals, gas stations and pharmacies are reasonably on the essential list.

Howard County, Indiana is the first location we have seen to ban the sale of “Non” essential items at approved retails. Since then Vermont has gotten onboard with this idea.

Non approved items include toys and games that the kids may need to distract themselves from not being allowed outside to play. The list also includes books and magazines. So if you go to Walmart to pick up your groceries, you are not allowed to buy a magazine while you are there.

It seems as if the government is picking winners and losers, and the small Mom-and-Pop shops are not going to survive. But don’t worry, the big box stores are here to save the day.  Need a job amid coronavirus crisis? Walmart announces plan to add 150,000 employees to meet ‘demand in our stores’

Since each state can designate what classifies as essential, employers must be careful. No one wants to end up in court being asked why they did not shut down their business, and then being held criminally, or financially, liable.

How about law enforcement? Are the local LEO’s going to enforce the stay-at-home orders?

A Maine Sheriff said the stay-in-place orders are akin to Nazi Germany. We will not be setting up a Police State. PERIOD.

Bonner County, Idaho Sheriff Daryl Wheeler wrote a letter to the State Governor to tell him that he believes we have been misled by some Public Health Officials and we need our Constitution reinstated.

Still, some LEO’s are ready to begin arrests.

Elected officials are just as split on these issues. Consider Rep. Heather Scott’s commentary:  The Virus that Tried to Kill the Constitution – COVID, The Constitution and Cause for Concern

Citizens are venturing far and wide to show that the media is not telling the full story.

No one really seems to know what the true story is. Everyone has a stance, but very few agree. Some believe the government has gone too far while others think they have not gone far enough.

Some folks think that no one else is allowed an opinion that differs from theirs, and if they do choose to voice said opinion, then healthcare employees are justified in determining who receives healthcare, and who does not. Triage based on the patient’s political opinion?

Yes, this country is at a crossroads.

Where do you stand? Do you sound the alarm of the pandemic and report your neighbors, or do you remain confident that this is “Just the Flu” and go about your every day lives without concern?

And what should the next steps be?

  1. Why is it necessary for mankind to battle nature? I am very tired of alarmists claiming that we are in a drought, heatwave, approaching ice age, global warming, climate change, ebola, swine flu, etc, etc?
Do these guys really think that man is capable of winning a battle against Nature?
Then there is the concept of “wise use.” This is simple. Use Nature’s resources wisely, rather than strip the Earth of its bounty for massive profit and greed. However, it really seems to me that we, mankind, can get on Nature’s side instead of battling Nature. Try “Love God and neighbor” and see if Nature will bless us with rain in season, harmony in the home and in communities, and no pestilences to battle, (as if mankind can overpower nature in a battle against a virus).
Look! If you want to live, seek out the gift of a resurrection to eternal life by hearing and obeying the instructive and compassionate words of your Creator. That is the only way to win…
Politicians and tyrants are not going to save you from viruses or the climate. You are an idiot if you think that they can, and a self centered knave if you desire government to control your neighbors through threat of force, fine, and gunpoint. That just angers Nature’s God all the more. Good grief!
