Vet Tragically Killed On Veterans Day

A North Idaho Veteran was tragically killed en route to a celebratory Veterans Day dinner.  Just after 5pm on Monday, November 11th,  Veteran Alan Ropp and his wife, Lisa Ivie Ropp had just dropped off their children with mom Terri Ivie and were headed to Sandpoint to a Veterans dinner.

They were stopped and preparing to turn left, when a vehicle, traveling at 60 mph, hit them from behind. The impact pushed them into oncoming traffic where they were hit by a vehicle traveling 60 mph in the opposite direction.

Alan was pronounced dead at the scene and Lisa was taken to a local hospital where they could address her very serious injuries. She had surgery for a broken pelvis, collarbone, wrist, eye socket and more. After surgery they discovered she had suffered a stroke and found she had several blood clots. They had to perform a second surgery to deal with these issues.

She is currently in ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital with partial paralysis to her left side from the stroke and a multitude of serious injuries from the accident.

They did not have emergency funds in place for this type of tragedy. At this time it is unknown if the 20-year-old that hit them has insurance. Please if you can help out your donation would be greatly appreciated. Any amount is helpful.

Update: Lisa is showing signs of improvement. This morning she was able to get out of bed and sit in a wheelchair for a short time. They hope to move her out of ICU today into a regular room. She was able to move her left leg, which is great news, as that was the side affected by the stroke! She is still unable to move her left arm but she is continuing to heal. With the amazing outpouring of love and prayers we believe she will regain the use of her arm. Please continue to pray for the family as they find their way through this most difficult time

Update: Lisa has now been told of the tragic death of her husband. She is dealing with that news as best she can. Yesterday, she had to tell their 5-year-old daughter that she would never be seeing her dad again! The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. They are truly humbled by the overwhelming support.
