Simpson Votes to Take Away Your Gun Rights

The US. House has reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (H.R. 1585) and it is on it’s way to the Senate. This is, basically, the national “Marcy’s Law”.
This Act was first passed in 1994, thanks to then-Senator Joe Biden.
The basics of wanting to protect women from violence are not in question, however, the Liberal agenda takes it much further.
Since they have had enormous trouble passing their agenda driven anti-gun legislation, they have taken a different tactic and loaded up other bills with gun grabbing amendments.
The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) explains the additions:
Here’s what the provisions do:

- Allows for ex parte orders (no due process) from an intimate partner, much like the red flag bills we’ve seen for those who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of stalking.
- Redefines the term “intimate partner” to include someone a person may have dated, as well as spouses and family.
- It would become the second misdemeanor level offense for which the federal government will bar someone from owning a firearm. In many cases, this will disarm women who seek to own a firearm for their own defense.
- Requires the federal government to notify local law enforcement when someone tries to purchase a firearm who’s allegedly prohibited under the NICS-Brady Registration scheme. This could include veterans or other law-abiding Americans who may have been wrongly added to the “prohibited” list without due process.
This could be just the beginning of gun confiscation.
Gun Owners of America (GOA) tells us more:
On gun control, the bill would allow anyone you’ve ever dated to convene a “secret court” to strip you of your Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights with no due process whatsoever. They could do so by alleging to a pliant judge — without proving — that you “scared” them or “harassed” them.
In addition, the bill would push for the imprisonment of veterans, traffic ticket scofflaws, and others who tried to purchase a gun without realizing the government had taken their Second Amendment rights away from them.
The final House vote saw HR 1585 pass, largely among party lines, 263-158. However, in reviewing those votes we noticed that our own Republican Rep. Mike Simpson, Idaho District 2, voted with the Liberal gun grabbers to take away your rights.
This is not the only liberal, progressive stance that Simpson has shown, as he made a speech in Boise last week ranting about how climate change is real.
Simpson is ranked 19th most liberal compared to House Republicans by govtrack.us.
And now he takes a step Giant Leap forward in trying to take your guns from you. He is showing his favoritism for Red Flag laws and disarming the citizens, therefore against the Second Amendment.
Simpson has been in office for over 10 years and has very little to show for it. He has not sponsored any major legislation, or even been on board with his conservative constituents since first elected. It is time for this poster-boy-for-term-limits to go home.
