Brooks Announces for Idaho State Senate
Local businessman, Zach Brooks, is running for the Idaho State Senate in District 11 next year.
Brooks, who grew up west of Kuna, graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Business Administration, emphasis in Accounting. He and Tiffanie, his wife of 11 years, have 4 children whom they homeschool on their small acreage.
Over the past several years, Brooks has been disappointed that the Legislature has decided to raise taxes and increase spending when budget surpluses have exceeded $100 million.
Brooks knows from experience that excessive taxation and over-regulation hurts farmers and small businesses. “Entrepreneurs aren’t as willing to invest and expand their businesses in Idaho because our tax and regulation structure isn’t competitive with bordering states. To top it off, Boise has been picking winners and losers with our tax dollars. That has to stop,” he says.
Particularly troubling for Brooks is the level of federal influence in Idaho, from land management policy to transportation to education.
“I believe the Legislature could do more to implement conservative solutions that are driven by local input. I will work to promote legislation that reduces health care costs, removes Common Core from our schools, and reduces spending so that tax cuts can become a reality,” Brooks stated.
When not running his investment company, Brooks volunteers with Love In the Name of Christ and Caldwell Youth Baseball. Over the past year, Brooks has also served as Chairman for the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance.
“The hard working people of Canyon County deserve a Senator who will advocate for their prosperity. I will be that Senator,” Brooks said.
