Legislative Update – Karey Hanks

I am working on a 2nd Amendment bill to remove the residency requirement for permitless carry

Hanks

Representative Karey Hanks District 35

My Life as a Legislator Has Begun!

I have been assigned to Health and Welfare, Agriculture and Judiciary-Rules-Administration committees. In committee we listen to agencies’ requests to change/update rules and after asking questions we vote whether to approve them. Thus far, most of the changes are reasonable. I have opposed one rule concerning parents’ involvement in child welfare treatment, and one relating to child care. It is a little overwhelming, but other committee members are helpful in explanations and I think it will get easier as I become more familiar with the procedures and bill language.

We are beginning to hear a few bills, and in fact I am working on a 2nd Amendment bill to remove the residency requirement for permitless carry in Idaho. I was featured in a live video in the Capital Monday.  You can view the video HERE.

As I come to understand what is happening and why, I will keep you posted.  You can be assured I will always stand for liberty and for the citizens of Idaho.

I’ll keep you posted as the session continues. Feel free to share this newsletter!
