*UPDATES* Two Bonner County Deputies and one suspect shot during arrest warrant service
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office acting as lead investigative agency for the North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force on the Bonner County deputy involved shooting is releasing additional information and the identities of the involved parties.
Deputy Michael R. Gagnon (pronounced Guyown) age 53, 1 year 9 months service with BCSO
Deputy Justin M. Penn, age 30, 5 ½ years service with BCSO
Deputy William T. Craffey, age 47, 9 months service with BCSO
The involved suspect is Adam Deacon Foster age 30 of Mountain View Road, Bonner County
Both Deputy Gagnon and Deputy Penn remain at Kootenai Health due to gunshots wounds sustained during the arrest attempt. Deputy Gagnon is listed in serious condition and Deputy Penn is listed in fair condition. Deputy Craffey was not injured during this incident.
Adam Foster remains at Kootenai Health recovering from gunshot wounds he received during this incident and is listed in fair condition.
The three Bonner County Deputies were involved in the attempted warrant arrest of Foster at his address on Mountain View Road when gunfire was exchanged. The investigation is in its early stages with detectives from multiple agencies of the Critical Incident Task Force collecting evidence and statements from witnesses. Crime scene processing is ongoing.
On January 16, 2017, Bonner County Deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant near Blanchard, ID. During their contact, gunfire was exchanged which resulted in the two Deputies and a suspect male being wounded. There is no reason to believe the public is in any danger.
The Deputies and the suspect were transported to Kootenai Medical Center, where all three underwent surgery for their wounds. At this time, the Deputies are in satisfactory condition and are expected to recover. The suspect is still undergoing surgery for his wounds.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office will be the primary investigating agency, as part of the North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force and are working closely with the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
