Public Asked for Assistance in Fernan Lake Deaths

Sheriff’s Detectives Seek Assistance from the Public

Kootenai County, Idaho – Sheriff’s detectives seek assistance from the public on the recent deaths of a woman and her two children found deceased in Fernan Lake.

Kootenai County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate the recent deaths of Misty Phelps, 25 years old of Coeur d’Alene and her two children, Tristan Phelps, age 1 and Riley Phelps, age 2.

The three were discovered deceased in their submerged car at the west Fernan Boat Launch just before 11:00 AM on November 3rd. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate drowning as the cause of death on all three, but toxicology reports will not be available for several more weeks.

Sheriff’s detectives are currently asking for anyone that may have seen or had contact with Misty and her two children, or Misty’s silver 2006, Ford Fusion from about 4:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2nd to the time she was discovered on Thursday, November 3rd to please contact them.

The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.
