Walk Around Jericho – Rally For Bundys
By Shari Dovale
A nice show of supporters are making themselves visible in Downtown Portland this week. Headed up by John Lamb, the rally attendees are shouting words of Praise for God and Support for the Malheur Protest Trial defendants.
Walking around the park and the courthouse, they call their first amendment actions a “Walk Around Jericho.” They have gained support each day as more people show up to applaud them.
Today, they began with a prayer and a moment of silence for Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, who was murdered on January 26th when his vehicle was stopped at an illegal ‘Dead man’s Roadblock” north of Burns, Oregon.
Leading the horse, Lady Liberty, brought great approval from the crowd, and the flags were very appreciated.
There was a moment of ups and downs this afternoon. A violent man, identifying himself as a Burns Paiute, hurled multiple racists statements at the group. They kept their calm and continued on their peaceful procession. The DHS agents, along with Portland Police and Multnomah Sheriff’s Deputies came to their rescue and dealt with the belligerent individual.
The protesters have been peaceful all week, and the LEOs in the area have already commented on the absolute right they have to demonstrate. It is their first amendment right, and the LEOs looked out for this right, as well as the demonstrators today.
We all applaud the officers, as well as the protesters, for the peaceful way the day was handled.
They intend to be in front of the courthouse, and around the park, each day this week. We expect to see more folks joining them, and will let you know how it goes.
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”
