Charges DISMISSED Against Pete Santilli

By Shari Dovale

An eleventh-hour motion filed by the prosecution has dismissed all charges against Internet Radio personality, Pete Santilli. Santilli faced charges of conspiring to impede federal officers in the Malheur Refuge protest last January.

Santilli held to his First Amendment defense, claiming he was only reporting on the events.

“Based upon this Court’s pretrial evidentiary rulings excluding evidence against Santilli (ECF No. 1171),” the motion states, “the government has decided that the interests of justice do not support further pursuit of these charges against Santilli.”

Santilli continues to face “significant charges in the District of Nevada, and his release from the Oregon charges should make clear that he will be transported to Nevada forthwith” the motion continues.

Santilli faces a 16 count indictment in Nevada, with charges including threatening officers, obstructing justice, and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. He still holds that he was simply reporting on events as a media source. The government, however, alleges that Santilli recruited gunmen to the ranch and helped to lead an assault on BLM officers.

The remaining defendants in the Oregon case will begin jury selection tomorrow morning, without Santilli. There are
seven defendants facing trial this week: Ammon Bundy, Ryan Bundy, Shawna Cox, Neil Wampler, David Fry, Kenneth Medenbach and Jeff Banta.

February will bring 7 other defendents to trial, including Sean Anderson, Sandra Anderson, Duane Ehmer, Jason Patrick, Jake Ryan, Darryl Thorn and Dylan Anderson.

With the dismissal today of all charges stemming from the Malheur Refuge protest, Santilli supporters are hoping the First Amendment will win in Nevada as well.

Today was a big win for US Constitution supporters. Showing the importance of holding fast to your convictions, Santilli continues to be an inspiration to Patriots throughout.

Let’s hope this trend continues.
