Kooteni County residents have been offered a unique class by their Sheriff’s Department.

“Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events” is a free 2-hour class that will consist of information on Disaster Response Psychology, how to increase your chances of surviving an Active Shooter Event (Avoid, Deny, and Defend), several past Active Shooter cases, and case study of the Active Shooter Virginia Tech case.

Due to overwhelming requests for the August class, the Sheriff’s Office will be offering a second class in September.

On September 24, 2016 the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office will be offering this class at their Volunteer Search & Rescue (VSAR) building for any Kootenai County citizen that would like to attend.
