Suspect Captured in Vehicle Theft

Kootenai County Sheriff, in cooperation with multiple agencies, apprehended Cody Brent Hall in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Thursday, May 19, 2016.

A resident on Fowler Rd, near Rathdrum, reported a suspicious male prowling around a vehicle early Thursday morning. Later in the morning, deputies responded to another residence on the same road, regarding a vehicle that had just been stolen.

An Idaho State Police Trooper located the stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 95 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect fled from the Trooper in the stolen vehicle. A high speed pursuit ensued for a short time and the suspect moved off of the highway and onto the city streets of Dalton. At that time, ISP discontinued their pursuit due to the extreme recklessness and disregard for the safety of the public by the suspect.

The stolen vehicle was then spotted driving eastbound on Dalton Ave. by a Coeur d’Alene Police Officer. A perimeter of the area was established using law enforcement from Kootenai County, ISP, and Coeur d’Alene.

The stolen vehicle was located abandoned at the end of Dalton Ave. A Kootenai County Deputy and K9 unit responded to the scene and began tracking the suspect. With the assistance of the K9 unit, the suspect was apprehended on the side of Canfield Mountain.

The suspect was later identified as Cody Brent Hall, 25. Hall was charged with Burglary, Grand Theft, and Felony Eluding.
