Investigation Continues in Post Falls Fatality Collision

Post Falls, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the fatality collision that occurred between a car and bicyclist.

On May 2, 2016 at about 3:45 pm, the Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of East Aspen Way and South Pine Court, near Post Falls, for a vehicle vs. bicycle crash.

Preliminary investigation showed that three juvenile males were riding their bicycles southbound on S. Pine Court, turning westbound onto E. Aspen Way. The second bicyclist in line turned wide and collided with the driver’s side quarter panel of a 2000 Nissan Maxima that was traveling eastbound on E. Aspen Way.

Life saving measures was given to the bicyclist at the scene by a responding deputy and an offduty fireman. He was then transported to Kootenai Health where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Phillip J. Geisinger, 8 years old of Post Falls, ID.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Chadd W. Webster, 22 years old of Post Falls, ID. During the investigation, Webster was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. He also had an outstanding traffic warrant for failing to appear on a previous charge of driving on an invalid driver’s license.

Webster was arrested at the scene and booked into the jail for the outstanding warrant as well as possession of drugs (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges may be forthcoming based on the findings of the Sheriff’s Traffic Investigation Team.

Toxicology and autopsy results will not be available for several weeks.
