Anthony Garver Captured in Washington

As reported by KHQ, two men that escaped from Western State Hospital in Lakewood, southwest of Tacoma, Washington are back in custody.

Mark Alexander Adams, was taken into custody near Des Moines, Washington, earlier Thursday, officials said.

In a press conference Friday night Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said accused murderer Anthony Garver was taken into custody.

Garver had been on the run since Wednesday when he escaped Western State Hospital through a broken window.

Knezovich said Garver was located by a Sheriff’s K-9 unit at about 8:15 p.m. near his parents’ house off of Judkins Lane hiding under a debris pile. Garver received medical attention for dehydration before being taken to the Spokane County Jail.

Deputies and U.S. Marshals have kept an eye on Garver’s parents’ home after he showed up there unexpectedly Thursday afternoon. They searched for Garver in a heavily wooded area between Forker Road and Newman Lake using helicopters in the air and K-9 units on the ground.

Anthony Garver, aka, Anthony Burke, was arrested for the murder of 20-year-old Phillipa S. Evans-Lopez in June of 2013, in Snohomish County.

Garver was committed to the psychiatric facility two years ago after he was deemed not competent to stand trial after being accused of fatally stabbing the woman 24 times.

Knezovich says the community can now breathe a sigh of relief.

  1. Hmmm, so he commits a heinous murder (24 stab wounds) but cannot be executed because he’s a homicidal maniac – you know CRAZY. It ‘would be cruel’ they say to execute a crazy person, regardless of how dangerous they are to everyone else. I say, let the murdered serve his time in the judge’s house – with the judge’s family – or be executed.

AS a friend of mine used to say:

“Well, if he’s crazy, don’t tell him that you’re going to kill him; tell him that he’s going to Disneyland. If he really IS crazy, he won’t know the difference.”

This case should have been over, the first week after judgement of homicide. Execute murderers: no repeat offenders. No lingering danger to the law abiding people of society. End of story.

  2. He was too crazy to stand trial but he was sane enough to break out of the hospital. How do you feel now judge?
