Sheriff Daryl Wheeler Explains Constitutional Carry

Sheriff Daryl Wheeler is a proactive sheriff that supports the Constitution. He has put his efforts into guaranteeing the rights of the citizens in Bonner County and the State of Idaho.

Wheeler was first elected in 2008 as the Bonner County Sheriff. In December 2011, he was sworn in as the President of the Idaho Sheriff’s Association. He is also a member of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA), founded by Sheriff Richard Mack.

Wheeler made headlines, along with a 100 other people, when he stood with retired Navy veteran John Arnold when the Veteran’s Administration threatened to take his guns away.

He again made the news when he wrote a letter to Gov. Otter explaining the safety concerns that the Obama Administration’s Refugee Resettlement and Relocation Program would bring to Idaho.

Wheeler‘s endeavors, along with several others, paid off this year when the Idaho Legislature passed a Constitutional Carry Bill, SB1389. Passing the House and Senate, the bill named more than a dozen co-sponsors. It was signed into law by Gov. Butch Otter on March 24, 2016.

However, this bill is not a blanket allowance for each citizen to carry a concealed weapon anytime the mood strikes them. It still has some restrictions, though these restrictions have been greatly reduced.

Do you understand the nuances of SB1389? Does this bill give every age group the same rights? Can you carry within city limits? What circumstances still require licensing?

The bill is due to go into effect on July 1st of this year, and the answers to these questions need to be explained.

Sheriff Daryl Wheeler met with the Oath Keepers of Bonner County to explain the new law, and answer their questions on how it pertains to each citizen.

The presentation is offered here, for you, in 4 parts.

  1. A law license is issued by the state BAR which is nothing more than a labor union for lawyers who have no constitutional authority to license anyone.

  2. If the good Sheriff is explaining the law and advising citizens of what is legal, or allowed, and what is not, and what they can or should do – their rights under the law , in other words – he is technically practicing law without a license. He should have the prosecuting attorney do this.
