Evenflo Recalls Child Safety Seats

evenflo recall
Evenflo, makers of children’s safety car seats, has issued a voluntary recall of the Transitions 3-in-1 Combination Booster Seat, over concerns that children may access the seat’s harness adjuster button and simultaneously loosen the harness..

.

Approximately 56,000 seats with model numbers 34411686, 34411695 and 34411029, manufactured before January 29, 2016 are effected.

“Please be aware that this issue does not affect the structural integrity of the Transitions seat in a crash and no injuries have occurred in connection with this issue.” the company stated on it’s website.
Evenflo is conducting this voluntary recall in coordination with the U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”).

The Transitions seat is called a 3-in-1 Combination Booster seat because it provides three modes of use:
1. Forward-facing harnessed booster (for children 22-65 lbs. and 28-50 inches tall);
2. High-back belt-positioning booster (children 40-120 lbs. and 43.3-57 inches tall); and
3. No-back belt-positioning booster (children 40-120 lbs. and 43.3-57 inches tall).

The company states that they are “concerned that children using the seat in the first of its three modes – the forward-facing harness mode – may access the seat’s Central Front Adjuster, while simultaneously loosening the harness straps, creating a scenario where the child would not be snug in the seat.”
Evenflo said the concern does not apply to consumers using the seat in its second and third modes: the high-back belt-positioning mode and the no-back belt-positioning mode.

Evenflo is providing, at no charge, a remedy kit that will virtually eliminate a child’s access and activation of the CFA. The remedy kit includes a replacement bottom seat pad, CFA assembly and installation instructions.

To determine if your child’s seat is included in this recall and to order a remedy kit, please provide your seat’s model number and date of manufacture here or call us at Evenflo’s ParentLink Consumer Resource Center at 1-800-233-5921, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
