Constitutional Carry Rally Set for February

The difference between rights and privileges are in what you must do to earn them. Privileges will have conditions attached, such as passing tests, or paying fees, or some other way of qualifying, such as the privilege of driving on public roads.

Rights are something you are born with, such as the right to live and breath. These rights are granted to everyone by God. The US Constitution does not grant these rights, it only guarantees them.

This includes the right to protect oneself and family.

The founding fathers understood this and built it into our founding documents, by way of the Second Amendment. The State of Idaho reaffirms this right in it’s Constitution.

So why is there a controversy? Some people believe that the right to protect yourself is actually a privilege, and able to be revoked at the will of the current government.

What do you think? What does the second amendment mean to you? Does it mean the privilege of hunting, or the right to feed your family? Does it mean the privilege of purchasing a piece of property, or does it mean the right to forbid criminals to harm your loved ones?

The Idaho Second Amendment Alliance (ISAA) believes that the right to keep and bear arms, to protect oneself and family, is a God-given right that cannot be taken away.

Idaho is typically considered a gun-friendly state, where citizen’s can open carry freely without obtaining any permission from the sheriff’s office. However, no one is allowed to carry a firearm concealed without first obtaining a permit.

ISAA believes this to be an infringement of your Second Amendment rights.

They have held 5 rally’s around the state this year, in addition to the annual rally at the capital. Sites included Twin Falls, Pocatello, Rexburg, Lewiston, and then Couer d’Alene, promoting Permit-less Carry, or Constitutional Carry.

Permit-less Carry simply allows someone, who is not currently restricted from owning or possessing a firearm, to put their jacket on. It is as simple as that.

Do you believe that your rights are worth fighting for? Do you think someone else should be fighting for your rights? Or, do you think you should join them?

The Idaho Second Amendment Alliance (ISAA) is holding it’s 3rd annual rally on February 20, 2016. They will meet at 3:30 at the Center on the Grove and march to the Capitol building.
